I've found my new favorite bead. It's the Krobo bead! Powder glass beads from Ghana, made by Krobo craftsmen and women to be exact. Here's a little link for more information about them. The colors are beautiful on these beads and really fuel the imagination. I found my first pretty stash of these with the folks at Grizzly Mountain Cache, they have a neat blog that can be found in the sidebar on this page. Then I searched for more on Etsy and found the lovely variegated ones in this picture at Anima Designs' shop. The textures and colors are outrageous on these beads.... So when I braved the snow last Saturday morning to make a trip to my favorite supplier who was getting a new tool shipment in (and I love tools!), I came across MORE of these beads in a gorgeous aqua color. Well, I had to have those too. So watch for these lovelies in some new designs starting this week.
I've been hammering out a lot of designs with cirlces in them lately, witness the Rinelle earrings and the Twilight Meadow bracelet. I've discovered this love for creating circles out of wire. Forming, soldering, buffing, hammering, oxidizing, steele wooling, etc. They make a nice focal point in designs and they are, of course, very useful as chains. Now I can't wait to learn stone-setting!
Hope your Tuesday is great~
